Today Mercari revealed that they will be reverting back to their original return policy, starting May 22nd, 2024. This change comes very recently after the initial change announcement in April of 2024. However, this change does not seem to have any significant implications for the buyers and sellers on the platform since the initial change was done only month ago. In this blog post, we’ll explore what this return policy entails and what sellers need to know to navigate this transition smoothly.
- Understanding Mercari’s Original Return Policy:
- Mercari’s original return policy allowed buyers to return items within three days of delivery for a full refund, provided the item was not as described or damaged. Sellers were required to accept returns and issue refunds promptly upon receiving the returned item. The previous change allowed buyers to return for ANY reason.
2. Provide Accurate Descriptions and Packing Safely and Securely are excellent ways to avoid issues with Mercari.
- Sellers should ensure that their listings provide accurate and detailed descriptions of the items for sale. Clear photos and transparent descriptions can help set proper buyer expectations and minimize misunderstandings.
- If you sell breakables, use sufficient packing materials and make sure the weight is accurate!
